Yesterday was a long, tiring, but crazily fun day(:

Wore the class tee, my own shorts, red shoes, one side of a long sock and a pink shower cap. It was the dress code of the class for ACES Day. We all looked stupid and hilarious but because we did it as a class, it was more fun than awkward. I guess this is the beauty of SC, that when you do things together, stupidity doesn't matter anymore. Things like the ACES Day workout which was some Bhangra dancing with this instructor up on stage and the teachers behind him dancing as well. My classmates were rather sporting because I could see pocket of maroon shirts spazzing about. The secondary fours resumed their usual upper gallery while the other three levels were down at the wooden floor, doing the dance as well. The only thing you could would have probably been howls of laughter, people attempting to "sing" with the song and the music.

Vertigo's back. I've been falling back and forth a few times due to that sudden feel of force pinning me down on one side. It's annoying but I can't find the medicine so I just hope it goes away.

After the short ACES Day session, were lessons. Mdm Jiang didn't do anything because (she'd let this out, we weren't supposed to know yet) there was going to be a fire drill. She's the coolest Chinese teacher ever. We were telling her how cool she looked when she was dancing (it was supposed to just be a compliment because it was Teacher's Day celebration too) and she broke into how some people asked if she's taken up dance lessons before. Haha, gosh.

Well, the fire drill didn't last for long because it'd started raining. Chemistry lessons weren't much affected and I guess no one really felt like doing too much. Same with English. After recess, was the Teachers' Day Concert. As usual, it was hilarious. So much dancing, so much dancing. I think, I would love my teaching life at SC if I were a teacher. We're sure the teacher had a lot of fun, so did the students because we were laughing throughout the concert and cheering the teachers on. Mr Teo did the first half of the emceeing when the teachers were dancing. This is one of the retarded things he'd said -- "So you think you can dance? ...Meh.."

After that, I went back to TNS with Kai Lin who was practically obsessing over how her hair looked like by looking at the reflection from her iPod. It was so funny. She was like, "Aiyah, sorry la. Influenced by friends!" Together, we suddenly said, "SC!" Hahaha, yes, the change in people from TNS to SC. It's rather distinct. Well, I met up with Jia Ying and Zi Wei and we walked around the school a bit. Hung (quite literally) around at the fitness corner just to talk and do random crap (like literally hanging). Suddenly, Jia Ying suggested looking for Mdm Neo and we did. She regretted in the end. Heh. What happened then shall only be left for prying ears. I'm not going to put it up.
Jia Ying didn't want to go to Parkway after that and flim for my camera was finished, so Zi Wei and I walked to the market opposite our places. Dropped off the roll of film to get it developed and then scoured for food. Soy products for the win. Lunch was so soy-laden.

I got home at about four an remembered that I was supposed to meet Elaine and Deborah for Baybeats. We were all late, meeting at Raffles City. Deborah's church friend, Joshua, came along. He has this cool self-made wallet made out of duct tape. Haha. Elaine was in her cheer skirt, as she had worn this morning in school, Debo was clad in black and layers, and I was prancing around in black tights, black shorts, black shoes, green shirt and a green bag. I guess I was feeling a little insane and tied my hair up in two ponytails, which Deborah said had reminded her of Scaramouche from We Will Rock You. A pity my hair isn't purple. HAHA.

Baybeats was so so so full of people. May was there too, so was Moses. Joshua broke off from us to have dinner with church friends that were there to support Leeson. Debo and I stayed on to wait for Elaine to come back from meeting her boyfriend. Peepshow did a pretty good set, but the three of us were making fun of this really funny noise that the singer had made. "Ngyea." We couldn't decide if it was a "yeah" or a "neh".
Well, anyways, after Peepshow, we tried going over to the other performance spot which was packed full of people. Couldn't see a shit. WHY IS EVERYONE SO TALL. Ugh. Kidding. Apparently, this band called Force Vomit (lol, so bullimic!) was playing. And then I realised that this was the band that my previous drum teacher (like, back in 2006 with Willa, Jia Hui and Van), Joshua (another person), was friends with and he made fun of their name. I wonder if any of them turned up for Baybeats..

We ended up going to the roof terrace of Esplanade to play with cameras. Check out the crazed look in our eyes. Haha. I had a hard time trying to put that frangipani in my hair. And no camwhoring session among the three of us is ever complete without a picture of Elaine and I stretching. Hurhurhur. We're crazy(:

Well, after camwhoring and such, Deborah forgot all about Joshua and his Subway cookie. It turned out that he was inside the Esplanade watching the electronic music showcase there. Debo, Elaine and I went to listen to a few songs when we met up with Joshua again. Damn, cool stuff. It'd reminded me of how Yus pronounced Björk's name as Buh-jork instead of Byirk because the music reminded Debo and I of Bjork. Upon leaving, my bus refused to come and I was thus stranded outside the Suntec Convention Centre with a whole bunch of people till near midnight. Screw unreliable but nonetheless dependable public transport.

Newfound respect for the accordion, eh?
It's times like this when I start wondering why God hadn't blessed me with fingers that move as fast as hers.

Ever since Kenny showed me the picture of Davey Havok in his manly stubble, I've been traumatised and have been holding back my admiration for him. {Shudders} Let's say I'm not a great fan of facial hair (except eyebrows). But let's get this straight, I still love AFI.

However, right now, I'm have great respect for another musician - Tuomas Holopainen. Even though I've heard about Nightwish since two years ago, I've never really known much about it except that it had this crazy vocalist who sent shivers down my spine whenever I heard her voice. And the most lovely arrangement of music which fuses classical and metal elements together. Not many bands can do it as well as Nightwish and have the ability to create this epic and cinematic feel in their music. Tuomas Holopainen was able to form the band that very well does that. Music that defies genres, music that stretches the tolerance of those to each of the extreme genres of music, music which widens the embrace to the elements less confronted by other bands.

It doesn't matter even if they've switched their singers. They have not betrayed the essence and soul of the music that they make and it's all that matter to me as a listener.

Admiration and respect swelled when I watched Maan Mianiot on Youtube. All seven parts with the English subtitles. It had contained the weirdest information of Tuomas, but you could see how modest and amazingly talented he is. I will quote him as an inspiration.

Well, I am just really amazed at how he can put two extremes together. I say this is how it should be in life. To try things out by putting the ends of a spectrum together.

Well, enough of that. Preliminary papers have been returned. Not all, but English was such a wreck. We're left with the return of Biology, Additional Mathematics, Chinese and Geography. However painful the papers are going to be, I suppose they can't be as bad as the English results.

Olympics' ratings must have reached a high in Singapore for everyone's been watching Lee Jia Wei's table tennis matches. I'm watching the rhythmic gymnastic sets though. Ultra cool.

There's not much that I want to say.

I wouldn't be surprised if you thought both were the same person. Actually, the one on the left's your real deal Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp. The one on the right however.. is not Jack Sparrow but it's Nightwish's keyboardist, Tuomas Holopainen (whom I like a lot thank you very much). I find the resemblance rather amusing.

Okay, Mitch, Serena, Debo and I went jamming at Zai Studios last night. We were all rather crazy with the impromptu covers and stuff. We attempted recording something for Michael three (or was it four?) times because Mitch suddenly realised that the volume was not recorded in the first few times. I think we all looked like we were all on drugs.

Debo and I missed jamming a lot. A whole hell lot. The last time we jammed was like.. what? A year ago?! Goodness.

I've acquired quite a few CDs to listen to over the weekend. First, the Rock Sound compilation which comes with each issue of the magazine, Yusnellie's Il Divo CD, then FOUR CDs of Debussy's pieces played by Walter Gieseking loaned from my piano teacher.

Did I mention that the 112th issue of Rock Sound had Tarja Turunen and Ville Valo on the same piece of paper? Hyperventilation. Tuomas Holopainen and Anette Olzon were on the cover and to be honest, I'd only bought it because Tuomas was on the cover. HAHA. Okay, I practically worship his keyboarding skills. Actually, I bought the magazine because it had "Finnish" written on the cover and because I'd seen a number of Finnish artistes on it. Couldn't resist.

What's up with me and Finland? I don't quite know either. Oh and you know what, my father's thinking of going to Japan at the end of the year for a holiday. You know what that means for me? I'll probably snag all those Japan-only singles/albums that most Finnish bands ship off. I should start making a list when he's done deciding.

Oh one more thing. Doesn't the cover for the single Bye Bye Beautiful by Nightwish remind you of Stephenie Meyer's Breaking Dawn? Okay, just the chess pieces. But still.

AFI owes large of their success to you, along with many other bands such as Green Day, MxPx, blink-182, +44, Sum41, etc. We'll keep the music alive. We'll keep you in our hearts. Thank you for the music. Thank you.

Happy National Day :D

It was burning up earlier today but it's raining really heavily right now. So much for "raining on your parade". But the people do still seem rather happy at the NDP as shown on the television.

Serena, Zi Wei, Mitch and I had our own way of celebrating National Day. Actually no, it wasn't celebrating haha. We had lunch together because Mitch's back from the States and we had agreed on having lunch at Astons' together.

Much of lunch was spent camwhoring actually. It was really funny. It wasn't really "hold the camera in your hand and camwhore" kind of camwhore, but setting the cameras on timer and doing stupid things. But before I put those up, this was what Serena and I had done to her fries and mashed potatoes.Mitch was rather amused by the two of us and went, "Oh my god, you're from SC. I can't believe you guys are doing this to your food!" And we're all like, "What, you have a problem?" Mitch replied, "No, it's just that I can't believe that I have friends like you two."
Well, there are more pictures but I'll have to wait for Serena to send them over from her camera haha.

Finally, the preliminary examinations ended yesterday. I can't believe how draining it actually was to sit for 15 papers in two weeks.

Well, the terror of the past fortnight ended with watching Dark Knight last night. I got home quite late after the movie because it'd ended at 2300. Surprisingly, I was still rather awake when I got home and I wasn't groggy when I woke up for school today.

I was planning to turn up in school in my PE attire but ended up complying to the red fashion code as implemented by the school because it's the National Day's Celebrations today. So, I wore my red 2PE shirt. Well, red's my favourite colour but when it comes to an appropriate shirt that goes with the school skirt, I can only wear that two-year-old class tee.

School was practically like a river of red. Every corner of the eye were students from both the secondary school and the primary school clad in different shades of red and occasionally dark orange and pink. As much as I love the colour, it got quite annoying when it's matched with the sky blue school skirt and it was such a horror trying to identify some of the primary school children from the secondary school students because we were all in red and all in our blue skirts.

Well, the secondary school students had an extra peformance to watch after the celebrations itself. We made our way to the hall for a performance held by the Harvard Din & Tonics. They wrote and performed really hilarious and brilliant songs. Slow, Elaine and I were so tickled by the lyrics. They were kind of late in turning up so the prefects desperately tried to entertain the school while waiting. We'd flown through the school cheer in a speed that we've never attempted and had Cheryl Giam to sing for us in her clear soprano. Yani was singing with her too. Gosh, I guess we've never really realised how full of talent the school's brimming with. We should start our own variety show : SC's Got Talent. Hurhurhur.

I didn't really make plans for today, since Serena said jamming was called off. It's rather timely at least. I finally feel the aftereffects of a late night kicking in. Sleep is beckoning.

I just regret having not brought any of my cameras out today.

The papers today were utter bullshit and half the time, I didn't know what I was writing or thinking.

I had to skip study camp for the E-Math paper got me really depressed. Deborah and I went for an impromptu mannequin-hunt for her jacket around the City Hall area. Found this $15 plastic male mannequin. She bought it and we named it Jorge.

Jorge is sexy, Jorge is hot,
Jorge will get your stomach in a knot.

Lolwth, I just made a rhyme out of nowhere.

Okay anyways, today has been a day of unpredicted events. Mitch and I were spamming each other with text messages on the phone, starting by her self-welcoming text message back in Singapore. We ended up meeting at the Raffles City Burger King with Serena in the midst of studying Biology with Deborah after searching for sexy-(boy)-Jorge.

We were quite a crew, I must say. Mitch with her skateboard, Deborah and Jorge and all of us making funny statements and noises.

Maybe it would have been greater fun if Zi Wei was with us too. Then again, it would turn out to be what Mitch would predict it to be - a riot.

Haha, yes, I should have brought a camera. Mitch + Nokia phone + skateboarding = ultimate amusement and fear for the people around her.

Goodness gracious, it's August already.

Yesterday, Debo and I were reminiscing the time at the Cure's concert last year. Gosh, time has really gone past so fast. Re-made friends, made friends, closer friends. Two months to Os and everything's just about going full speed ahead.

One week of preliminary examinations more to go. Ultra lame and random, but they should reconsider condensing "Preliminary Examinations" into one word : Prelim-inations.

Ya, okay, whatever.

Seven papers down, eight more to go.

Omg lol, I can hear Elaine's voice over everyone else's in this.

I swear I'm going to miss SC so much. Two more months to O Levels. Three to graduation night. Four to being in SC.

Oh man):
